Welcome To Addawatte

Spirit World is a browser-based, Action Adventure Partial-Idle Partial-Scapelike MMORPG. I’m not really sure exactly what to call it, because it sits between a number of more traditional genres, but in simplest terms — its online, you can level up skills, there’s real-time combat, and a large world full of activities and quests to explore. A portion of the world is currently, and will remain, free-to-play for anyone who has an interest in exploring the game. There is no time limit on free-to-play access, and all the primary skills and game systems are available. Right now, there is roughly 20-40 hours of gameplay available in the free region, and I intend to expand the free region in the future.

Exploring the world of Addawatte

Engage in a variety of activities

The game features some ambitious and unique game mechanics, including:

  • Seven melee weapon archetypes and various ranged weapons
  • Complex brewing and smithing systems
  • Dungeons with roguelike powerups
  • Long-form quests with varying levels of difficulty
  • Fishing
  • Mining
  • Day/Night, Weather, and Starsign days
  • Idle mechanics
  • NPC Followers with levels and perks
  • Decorations
  • Dialog and Lore
  • Journal entries, notes, and logs
  • and more.

Brewing and smithing complement the primary combat loop, and both provide meaningful rewards for dedicated effort and skill. These crafting systems offer items of different “grades”, which directly affect the value and quality of the item.

The early alpha includes a free-to-play region with a large world area to explore, two free-to-play roguelike dungeons, multiple smaller dungeons, more than 20 quests, secrets to uncover, and activities to engage in, both solo and with friends. If you enjoy the game, consider supporting development by subscribing and immediately gaining access to two additional regions.

Enjoy a calming aesthetic

The world of Addawatte is quiet and peaceful. Day/Night cycles progress time every seventy minutes, and storms change the landscape and cause special effects. The motion of the stars in the heavens trigger different “sign days”, which additionally affect the world. The soundtrack is varied and unique to each region, and the art style is consistent and pleasant (and entirely human-authored — thank you to the wonderful artists who developed the assets currently in use in Spirit World)

Enjoy the ambience

Explore with others

The world of Addawatte is separated into separate shards, each with a current player cap of 80 players. This cap has the potential to change after further performance tests have been completed — either up or down. From day one, you’ll always have the potential to run across another player. Friend eachother, chat, form a group, and tackle a dungeon together. Currently, all areas are PvE only, so there’s no risk of PvP battle, but future wilderness areas will have PvP enabled.

Play together with friends

Play on any browser, instantly

Spirit World has been performance optimized for web browsers, and can be played on most modern computers. Nothing to download, nothing to install. Just go to https://alpha.spiritworld.io/, and start playing instantly. A desktop client is in development currently, and should provide even further performance boosts if anyone is struggling to run the game. One note: Firefox does not play nicely with the game’s built-in right-click mechanic, so I recommend playing on another browser.
