Smithing

Smithing, much like its cousin Brewing, is a skill-based crafting system that rewards practice, focus, and skill. I refer to both smithing and brewing as “Bar Managers,” because the core objective is to watch and optimize multiple separate changing bar values in order to craft the best possible final item.

Smithing As Art

Crafting a standard weapon is not particularly difficult.

Heat the temperature bar up until you’re inside the correctly colored zone, then use the forming buttons on the left to drive up the main crafting bar.

Once the main crafting bar is fully filled, you can finish and successfully smith an item. However, if you wish to craft higher quality gear, you’ll need to choose your forming options carefully, in order to move the other three shape bars until they are inside their target areas. All three shape bars must be in a target area for the item to qualify for that level of quality.
